Verizon Wins With 5G Launch in Chicago and Minneapolis

And for a decent price, too.

Chances are good you've heard of the myth: 5G. The latest innovation, the golden unicorn, the last bastion of technological godliness for mobile and the Internet, finally replacing everything we've known regarding 4G and 4G LTE -- a standard we've lived with for quite some time and honestly never had a problem with (remember the good ol' days of 3G? ....Or DIAL-UP? Yeah.) This should then tell you something about how cool it's going to be once this whole supposed 5G thing starts sweeping the nation -- nay, the world -- as we somehow manage to make calls faster than we can dial and stream movies faster than we can spell. Well, Verizon did it. Quite easily, in fact.

Verizon Wireless Recently Launched 5G in Chicago and Minneapolis for a Measly $10 Extra

And to put it in perspective, the company has beaten rivals ATT and Spring in the race to introduce the fifth generation of mobile services into the fold of humanity and society. If you happen to live in either of those two cities and possess a Motorola Z3 ,mobile or a "Moto Mod," you can get 5G on that phone via a physical magnet-type attachment.

So it's like a booster, we think.

Now if you think AT&T and Sprint are just sitting around twiddling their thumbs, they're not. They're currently busy working with Samsung to roll out their own 5G networks and phones, but at the moment Verizon has beaten them to the punch.

Just in case you're not aware of how cool 5G is going to be, let's paint a picture for you: 5G will be anywhere between 50 to 100 times FASTER than 4G. There you go. For those of us who were quite satisfied with 4G will now be blazing around everywhere with ease without having to worry about wireless technology or hotspots.

Deep down we're not surprised that Verizon came in first with this race. After all, the carrier is the largest in the nation with AT&T close by, plus their deal is pretty sweet, offering the Moto Mod for $50 and 5G for free for the first three months. Expect Verizon to then expand these plans to more than 30 other cities in 2019, plus the first commercial 5G service went into effect in Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles and Sacramento.

So 5G Is Definitely Coming -- It's No Myth

It took quite a while when you think about it. But the fact is when technology evolves on a wide scale with a variety of new innovations, generally speaking the foundations we all rely on have to improve as well. What do you think?
