Uber Preparing to Go Public in the Stock Market

But Uber won't be alone in this race, believe it or not.

Who knew car-sharing would be that much of a hit? Leveraging mobile technology, GPS and more, and then someone gets the idea that while the ever-present American institution known as the taxi driver turned into the every-man of the road, capable of earning independent income and providing a much more reliable service than those yellow cabs could ever. Still when you boil down the details, it makes sense: Uber and car-sharing in general made quite the model work out well despite a bit of bad publicity here and there. We don't even think Travis Kalanick knew he had a goldmine with Uber when he founded the company --

And that's a big congrats with the scandals of one Kalanick looming overhead, and yet Uber Technologies still rules the pack in the car-sharing technology model as it expands to other ventures such as Uber Eats, self-driving technology and virtual kitchens (Yep, that's a real thing, folks).

The company just got finished hiring some IPO writers just to go public, and believe it or not -- but Lyft, Uber's only real competitor, is clambering for a spot in the stock market as well. Amazingly enough, Lyft is leading in the effort to obtain an IPO, but that may not matter as the long-term preparations may position Uber a bit better in the first half of 2019.

This is especially the case given the more than half-dozen investment banks now under Uber's wing for the soon-to-be launch into the public as a traded company -- such banks include Bank of America, Barclays PLC, Citigroup Inc., and Allen & Company just to name a few, valued at potentially $120,000,000,000.
