Toyota and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) Target the Moon

Who knew that one of the biggest automotive makers and astronauts would make something big?

The question: how big? What could Toyota and a bunch of astronauts over in the Land of the Rising Sun possibly do? A lot, apparently. After all, this is Toyota we're talking about, and as far as innovation and productivity strategy goes, when you pair that with the skies and stars of rocket and space technology, that marks milestones for space travel.

Long Story Short, Toyota and JAXA Aim to Build the First Ever Lunar Rover That Can Run on Fuel Cell Technology

#

Sadly this has no bearing on a potential manned rocket as Japan has actually never managed that. That's okay, though, as such a rover project may be quite the contribution when involving an international space probe program in the very near future.

Back in the day, exploring the moon was fairly limited -- but with fuel cell technology, the possibilities are literally endless, traversing the rocky landscape with ease, and you can expect that to become a reality somewhere around the 2030s. Of course, the rover is still in a conceptual stage, so nothing's fully set in stone. We may see it sooner or later -- who knows. But one thing's for sure: as Toyota ramps up fuel-cell cars as the next big thing in the automotive industry, you can bet that type of technology will translate to space travel potentially sooner rather than later. Only time will tell.

The reason for the big draw is the fact that fuel cells offer a zero-emission alternative. Testing the technology on the surface of the moon ultimately benefits the automaker as they gather the data to really penetrate the market and put their footprint in the sand of the industry.

Imagine That -- an Automaker That Gets to Be a Part of Space

We've literally seen everything now. First it was Tesla Motors thinking of getting a rocket going to Mars with colonists, and now this. What do you think? SIGN UP FOR A VIGYAA ACCOUNT AND START WRITING SOME OF YOUR OWN THOUGHTS AS WELL!
