I’m a child of 80's

A time when there was

I've been a child of early 80's who has probably seen both sides of the world for good or bad, I really do not know, but what I do know is the concepts of quality time are of today not of yesterday.

I was born in 81 when we had limited or probably no access to the internet, we stayed in our own little bubble of things of what we knew around, and stayed close to family & friends. I still remember my days of early child-hood when plans were made in school, there were no-reconfirmation's on them, a time and a place to meet was set, and everyone used to show up, there was this excitement and fun element to the waiting and meeting up, there was so much to talk about, used to cycle around with friends, planned activities and had most of the fun. No mobile phones meant no intrusions, no anxieties, no stress. We used to sit at restaurants and talk to each other, so did people around me, there were just no distractions. More friendly smiles around. We cared more about each other, they were some true relationships that i will cherish forever.

No internet meant less screen time. And now we have detox for these things.LOL

I remember when the first mobile phones came out, boom! call rates were super high but still a few elite got them, carrying them was a status symbol. It was a work thing, so people could communicate more efficiently, of forgot to mention the pagers, they were still better, anyways I remember my dad getting his hands on the very first phones, and how his time gradually starting to decline to less quality time. Then when mobile phones became more affordable, I got one too, BOOM!!!! super fancy but yeah started the life of diminishing quality.

Then came the internet, with dial-up-modems lol, somethings I should save for my kids to see as an antique piece of internet, slow speeds one song download used to take a couple of hours. Google was not so prevalent at that time so less information, was good, I guess, today if i have nothing to do i'm searching on google, and yeah we call that 'research' now.

Now came today, with faster speeds, multimedia phones, digital screens, technology boom, wow seems like we have everything today. 500+ friends on facebook, followers on twitter, linkedin connections, huge social media network, I should feel like a KING right, but i don't.

There are some great things that technology is given, but yeah i'm discounting them for today ;)
